Jayson Faulkner – ER

Jayson Faulkner has been playing in the outdoors since he was a kid, hiking with his buddies in the wilds of Hollyburn mountain and Cypress on the North Shore of Vancouver, BC. He has climbed, skied, walked, cycled, paddled, flown and generally explored just about every corner of the Sea to Sky region as well as many of the world’s great ranges. He has been in the outdoor industry for more than 20 years, involved in all aspects of the industry from buying and selling to designing outdoor equipment and clothing as well as assisting people in their quest to have a safe backcountry experience. Jayson has a unique perspective thanks to his experience of what works in the wilds as well as in the shop, and today he feels a deep understanding of what makes BC and the Pacific Northwest so special. Jayson lives in Whistler which he has called home since 1977. When asked what his favourite quote is, he has many, but this is the one he comes back to:

You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what is above. One climbs, one sees. One descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.
