And here we have it — a delicious weekend of mellow lines in the sun up at Backcountry Snowcats. The operation is located up the Hurley, just past Pemberton, BC (which is just past Whistler).
The thing I dig about the ‘Cats is that you get to plunder a serious stash of styles with a variety of terrain, from the high alpine to pillow lines and trees. Different aspects and features dot the tenure, and there’s lots to play with. And to be frank, you get it all at what are affordable prices. It’s not five star, it’s backcountry-style catskiing, with lodging, food and transport provided. More eats than you can shake storm sticks at, a hot tub, leather couches to chill on, and a small crew running the operation keep it friendly and warm. Heading out with the ‘Cats is always an adventure, from the sled ride in to all the fresh soft snow that follows.
I am sure I’ll be back next year, some way or other.
