For those kicking around in the early ’00s in Whistler, and for those immersed in the freeksier scene everywhere, the name of Dave Pires might be of some regard—Dave was (and still is) a chronicler of the newschooler and freerider movements, active as a writer and photographer, a poetic and crafty rider as well as writer.
Dave’s first book of his own photography, culled over three years of coast-to-coast roadtrips and otherwise existential adventures, is now available. Titled You Are Unlimited, Dave’s modest pricing belies an exquisite publication of people, words and things, scenes and scenarios. Shot entirely on film, this is a delight, and an eye into a man who has chosen his frames with precision, if not with the evident traces of the agony of thought.
