Dig out your animal prints, folks. John Vaillant, winner of this year’s Governor General award, is coming to Whistler Saturday night to read, drink and party with the best of us. Vaillant’s book, The Tiger, has been heralded by Outside magazine as their favourite book of the year, and has been gaining monumental praise since its release. A true survival story based on events in Russia’s Far East in 1997, The Tiger recounts the story of a vengeful 600-pound tiger whose ability to methodically kill humans leaves the reader questioning the very balance of humans and nature. Hailed as a thriller, a nail-biting read, and a powerful journey through a mysterious region, The Tiger is proving to be the year’s most significant book of non-fiction. Even if you haven’t read the book, go and listen to Vaillant, and nab an autographed copy for a holiday present.
But hey, don’t take my word for it. Listen to Vaillant himself:
