Yes indeed, Canadian alpinist Barry Blanchard is giving a talk and slide presentation this upcoming Saturday, November 13th at Millenium Place here in Whistler. He’ll be recounting tales from climbing trips to the Canadian Rockies, Mt. Blanc, Nuptse, Everest, K2, and others, to “illustrate the ways mountains engage us and how climbing soothes the soul.”
I’d say climbing often torments the soul and that mountains engage us by beating us down into small specs of our former egoistic selves, but hey, perhaps that’s what Barry will be driving at. He’s got more experience than every reader of this post combined. Probably. And check out his flowing mane…
The talk will feature a silent auction benefiting the Brian Ebert Memorial Fund, so scrounge the bottles and throw down some bids on fresh gear donated by local businesses and suppliers.
When: Saturday November 13th, 2010
Time: Silent Auction at 6pm, Show at 7:30 pm
Location: Millennium Place Theatre, Whistler, BC
Parking: Whistler Blackcomb Day Lots or BIKE & BUS, WALK OR SKIN, DAMMIT
